How do we check compliance?
The inspection of compliance to the KDV criteria are performed by two companies: De Hoeve Certificering, which performs the inspections, and Vinçotte Nederland BV, which certifies the chain independently.
In addition to the audits by De Hoeve Certificering and Vinçotte Nederland BV, all pig farmers are annually audited by Producert or Verin within the scope of Integrated Chain Management (ICM). This involves auditing the ICM certificate as well as the Global G.A.P. Add-on module for Pigs of Tomorrow and Better Life One Star certification.

Antibiotic-free Life Guarantee
In recent years, the Sustainable Pork Value Chain (KDV) has devoted much effort to reducing antibiotic use in farming. We have made great progress in this regard. Many of our pig farmers use almost no antibiotics at all.
What is ALG?
Because our farmers are able to maintain the health of their animals so effectively, we introduced pork with an Antibiotic-free Life Guarantee (Antibioticavrij Leven Garantie) in 2017 (with the KDV+ hallmark). Meat with this hallmark comes from pigs that are guaranteed never to have been treated with any type of antibiotic during their lifetime. Watch the animated video
Safeguarding ALG
How do we ensure that all the pigs in the Antibiotic-free Life Guarantee truly have not received any antibiotic treatments over the course of their life?
